No wine part deux

This morning I woke up to clouds outside my window. Clouds? In Napa Valley?! I didn't think they even had those here! My perfect view of sunny California was utterly shattered. I was convinced that my spider bite had released bad karma throughout the North Bay.

A beginner's faux-pas. I wasn't seeing clouds, but fog. Fog so widespread that you couldn't see the blue sky above it. It will burn off by midday, said my colleague.

And, sure enough, it did! By noon, the skies were clear and blue sky as far as the eye could see once again.

Still, I'm not quite sure how to process it all. That was it? It didn't even rain, drizzle, mist. Nothing. It just...disappeared?

That would never happen on the east coast. Where there are clouds, there is rain. I still can't fathom that a few hours of fog in the mornings will be my worst days here. I'm not arguing, mind you, but this just isn't the real world.

Now, at 7pm the sun is still shining strong and there's a cool breeze. I came home - albeit with a large, swollen, bitten ankle - to a house being set up for a party. Tomorrow, my roommates and I will be hosting a paella fest housewarming, complete with a massive paella pan that will take up our entire kitchen counter.

And since I will be wine-free throughout the event, I'm sure I'll have the best story to tell about it on Sunday.
